SAFETY FIRST - At Ottawa Best Movers, we value the safety of our employees and our customers above all.
Please make sure your driveway or pass way is free of ice. Ottawa Best Movers reserves the right to refuse the move if the conditions are not safe for our movers.
Propane tanks and other hazardous and/or illegal materials are NOT allowed on the truck.
Please arrange ahead with Ottawa Best Movers for any oversized items or items over 250lbs for special handling and speciality teams.
Ottawa Best Movers reserves the right to refuse to move items through passages or stairways with less than 2 inches clearance between the walls/ceiling and the item in question. By insisting the movers perform the maneuver against their advice, you are waiving any liability of Ottawa Best Movers for damage that might occur to the passage, stairways, walls, or the items in question during the execution of such maneuvers.
We do not disassemble any equipment that includes electrical wiring, such as treadmills or double door fridges
For insurance purposes, none other than the employees of Ottawa Best Movers are allowed on the truck.
We can guarantee morning arrivals only. Any afternoon or evening arrivals are subject to the completion of any previous job.
The customer is responsible to contact the City of Ottawa in advance and arrange a parking permit for a moving truck in the following cases:
Any parking tickets issued to the moving truck at the loading / unloading time will be added to customer’s bill.
Please be advised that extra charge based on hight and weight of the item will apply for hoisting your furniture - in cases the item doesn't fit through the passageway and is required to be lifted through balconies, as this procedure may require additional movers and specialized equipment.
Please note hoisting furniture is high risk procedure - risk assessment and final decision will be made by movers on the site and be based on the hight, weight of the items, railing and weather condition.
Please be advised that extra charge based on hight and weight of the item will apply for hoisting your furniture - in cases the item doesn't fit through the passageway and is required to be lifted through balconies, as this procedure may require additional movers and specialized equipment.
Ottawa Best Movers reserves the right to refuse of hoisting furniture if conditions are not safe.
Ottawa Best Movers recommends that all your belongings be packed in moving boxes, boxes be closed and taped shut. For best results, all boxes should be as fully packed.
All electronics must preferably be packed in their original boxes or custom specialty boxes.
We do not dissemble/assemble fitness equipment and any equipment that includes electrical wiring. Oversized treadmills, bikes, double door fridges etc. need to be taken apart prior to movers’ arrival.
Frameless mirrors, glass products, glass tables, marble furniture, flat screen TV's, monitors, electronics without original boxing or proper packing will be not covered by our insurance.

Any damages where the crew have pointed out to the customer that they are likely to occur and the customer accepts that risk will not be covered by insurance.For example, moving an over-sized couch through a narrow stairway/hallway/doorway where the couch must touch the walls/railings/stairs in order to fit through the passage.
We only move empty aquariums. (This means empty of water, and also empty of creatures such as lizards, turtles and snakes.) No pets and any living animals are allowed in the moving truck.
In the moving situations where Ottawa Best Movers is moving roommates, couples and divorced couples who are separating their items for separate drop off locations Ottawa Best Movers will not be held liable for any claims or damages for missing items or items delivered to the wrong location. It is the responsibility of the clients to divide items and inform Ottawa Best Movers via their inventory list which items are theirs for delivery. Ottawa Best Movers will not communicate with the individual on behalf of the client who has taken or items in question either by accident or with intent, that is the responsibility of the client to discuss the whereabouts and ownership of such items with the other Individual. Ottawa Best Movers will not be held liable for any claims that items were moved without their consent if the customer booking the move added those items to their inventory list, the client is responsible for any damages or claims of any parties who reach out to Ottawa Best Movers and claim that their items were wrongfully moved.
At Ottawa Best Movers, our workers and our entire staff will do everything in their power to make sure that no damages occur. Unfortunately, even with all the preparation and safeguarding, accidents can still happen.
For that reason, we have insurance options available to cover for damages.
In case of damage done to a property, such as dents to the walls or flooring, Ottawa Best Movers is covered by $2,000,000 in liabilities coverage, with deductible of $1,000 paid by a customer.
During the move, the customer’s furniture and belongings are covered by Standard Valuation Coverage at no additional cost to the customer. In case of damage to furniture or belongings, the customer will receive a compensation of $0.60 per pound. Standard Valuation Coverage will not cover for cosmetic damage such dents or scratches; it only covers total loss cases.

Please note that it is the client's responsibility to ensure that the damage is reported to the movers on the site in order to make a claim to the insurance. NO CLAIM WILL BE ACCEPTED after the movers have left the property after the completion of the job.
Ottawa Best movers maintains in excess of two million dollars worth of General Liability insurance. Nearly every commercial office requires some form of insurance certificate prior to any work being performed.
Rules and regulations to insurance claims:
Insurance does not automatically pay for any damage. It must be clearly shown that the mover was responsible for the damage.
Items in boxes not packed by the mover are not covered, unless the outside of the carton provides clear evidence that the entire box was damaged during the move.
The mover is not responsible for any electronic item that does not function after the move, unless there is clear evidence that the item was not handled properly during the move.
A client must report to the movers any damage noticed on the site and fill out all appropriate forms in order to make a claim to the insurance. The forms will be provided by movers upon request. No claim can be made after the movers have left the property, as both parties need to sign a claim form.
In order to start a claim process, a client has to report the damage to the movers and pay the full amount for the move performed.

The moving clock starts upon our crew’s arrival. It finishes when your last item unloaded from the truck and all floor runners and moving blankets are back in the truck. In addition we add one hour travel time for all local job in radius of 20 km from city hall.
